The box retains its original green velvet lining. Hallmarked to the front for Birmingham, 1912, the maker's mark appears to be that of S Blanckensee & Son Ltd (though partly rubbed). The interior retains its original velvet lining, now showing wear and discolouration commensurate with age and use. The box itself shows surface wear, with several small dinks and light dents, as expected from a piece of this age. Hinged lid opens and closes soundly.
