Royal Worcester Hand Painted Fruit Plate by W.H. Austin – 1923 A fine small Royal Worcester porcelain plate, delicately hand painted with apples and blackberries resting on a leafy ground. The work is signed by W.H. Austin, one of the accomplished fruit painters employed by the Royal Worcester factory in the early 20th century. Royal Worcester’s fruit painting tradition is widely collected, and artists such as Austin, Sebright, Ayrton and others are celebrated for their richly detailed still-life compositions on porcelain. This example bears the puce factory backstamp with a dot date code for 1923. Dimensions: Diameter: 12 cm Condition: Good condition overall. Fine surface craquelure throughout. A faint stress hairline to the centre and a small nick to the painted surface, as visible in photographs.
