Description
A finely cast Victorian brass pair of sugar tongs, decorated to both sides with a raised nautical anchor and rope motif within a laurel wreath.
The arms terminate in oval, textured gripping pads, typical of sugar tongs intended for use with sugar lumps.
The tongs operate smoothly and retain a pleasing aged patina throughout.
Decorative naval themes of this type were popular in Britain during the late 19th century, particularly for tableware and novelty domestic items.
Material: Brass Date: Late Victorian, circa 1880–1900 Dimensions: 13 × 5 × 1 cm Condition: Good antique condition with surface wear and patination consistent with age; no damage or repairs noted.
