Fine Bronze Figure of a Woman with Serpent After Goldscheider Mid-20th Century A striking decorative patinated bronze figure depicting a semi-clad female entwined with a serpent, inspired by the sensual Art Nouveau and Viennese Secession models associated with Friedrich Goldscheider (Austrian 1845-1897). The figure is modelled standing in elegant contrapposto with one arm dramatically raised, the serpent coiling around her body and arm. The flowing drapery and elongated form give the piece a strong theatrical and sculptural presence. Mounted upon a circular variegated marble plinth with engraved titled plaque reading “A Woman with Serpent”. The bronze displays a rich dark patina with attractive age and surface character throughout. Condition: General light wear and minor surface marks consistent with age. Overall presents well.
