Description

French Brass Inlaid Ebonized Bookcase with Sevres Plaques, Circa 1820 An elegant and well-crafted French bookcase from the early 19th century, dating to approximately 1820. This piece is ebonized throughout, with fine brass inlay work and detailed ormolu mounts. The upper section features glazed doors that offer the opportunity for display, while the lower cupboard space provides practical storage. The bookcase is adorned with four exquisite Sevres porcelain plaques in a striking bleu celeste palette. These high-quality plaques, known for their delicate hand-painted scenes, add a refined touch to the overall design. Condition is good for its age, with some minor wear to the finish, typical for a piece of this age, but nothing that detracts from its overall beauty and functionality. The Sevres porcelain plaques remain in excellent condition, contributing significantly to the bookcase’s charm and value. Dimensions: 138 x 45 x 260 cm (height)
