Description
A late 19th-century silver plated basket by Deakin & Sons, with a swing handle and crimped rim.
The sides are decorated in relief with floral and foliate designs, while the lower section has a textured, hammered surface.
The handle crosses at the top and remains firmly attached.
Marked to the base “EP A S D&S G”, denoting electroplated alpha silver, made by Deakin & Sons of Sheffield.
The silver plate is worn in places, particularly around the lower half, with visible tarnish and surface pitting throughout.
Sold as found, unpolished.
Dimensions: Approx. 12cm diameter x 14cm high with handle raised
Condition: Wear, tarnish and surface pitting consistent with age.
Decorative piece.
