Description
A handsome pair of English George III period brass footmen, c. 1800.
Matching in size and likely from the same workshop, the two pieces have been together a long time—possibly since their original use—though they differ slightly in detailing, with one fitted with side handles and a scalloped edge.
Each footman is raised on wrought iron legs, with pierced brass tops of elegant floral design and ventilated sides.
One features a decorative rolled edge, the other a plain border, both with cabriole-style front legs and flat iron stretchers to the rear.
Dimensions: 33 cm wide x 33 cm deep x 34 cm high
Condition: In good antique condition with signs of use consistent with age.
The brass has been cleaned and polished to a bright finish.
Structurally sound.
A fine decorative and practical pair of Georgian hearth accessories, ideal beside a fireplace or used as stands in a traditional interior.
