Description
A decorative pair of cast bronze urns, likely produced around 1900 in the tradition of Grand Tour pieces.
Each urn is of campana form with twin handles and features a continuous frieze of classical figures in relief, drawn from mythological or allegorical sources.
The bronze has acquired a natural patina, with areas of verdigris and surface wear consistent with age.
The urns are mounted on later turned wooden socles and square veneered plinths, which are well made and sympathetic to the overall design.
The bases are likely mid- to late-20th century additions.
Dimensions:
Height: 24 cm
Width (handle to handle): 17 cm
Depth: 13 cm
Condition: The urns are in good, aged condition.
Surface wear, patination, and some minor marks are present, as expected for the period.
The wooden plinths are later replacements but of decent quality and proportionally balanced.
