Pair of Early 20th Century English Watercolours – Coastal Fishing Scenes, Signed S.W. A charming pair of original watercolour paintings, both depicting coastal village life with finely observed figures, boats, and cottages along a shoreline. Each scene features traditional fishing activities: one showing women with fish barrels outside a thatched cottage, the other with figures beside beached boats and a child playing with a model sailboat. Both works are signed “S.W.” lower corner and retain their original matching gilt frames behind glass. The reverse of one is titled in pencil “The Fisherman’s Cottage – Heron”, the other “Sailing the Boat off Star Cross Beach” (likely referring to Starcross, Devon), suggesting a West Country setting. The style and materials are consistent with English watercolours of the Edwardian period, c. 1900–1920. Condition: Good, with minor age-related wear to the frames. Colours remain fresh.
