Description

Victorian German Walnut Regulator Wall Clock c.1890 A fine late 19th-century German wall regulator clock, dating to around 1890. The case is made of walnut, with a warm, mellow colour and attractive patina. It features turned finials, applied mouldings, and decorative baluster columns to the front. The pediment is mounted with a cast metal figural crest of a horse and hound, possibly later. The door and both side panels are fully glazed. The two-piece dial has an enamel chapter ring with Roman numerals, red flourishes, and blued steel hands. The brass centre plate is cast and engraved with scrollwork. Inside, the clock retains its original brass pendulum and twin weight-driven regulator movement, which is currently in working order. Dimensions: Height: 127 cm Width: 50 cm Depth: 20 cm Condition: Presents well overall. Some surface wear and scuffing to the case, notably to the sides and lower apron. Losses and chips to the veneer and small areas of finish wear as shown. The glass is intact. The movement appears clean and in working condition at time of listing, though timekeeping has not been tested for accuracy.
