Description

Fine Pair of Late 19th Century Ormolu Ewer Form Table Lamps, c.1890 A handsome and decorative pair of antique table lamps, finely cast in the form of classical ewers. Dating from the late 19th century, circa 1890, these heavy gilded brass (ormolu) bodies are of particularly good quality, with rich neoclassical decoration throughout. Each lamp features: A repoussé-style body with figural scenes in relief, including playful putti and foliate motifs Everted pouring lips with leafwork detailing and delicately modelled serpent-like handles Green painted (possibly patinated) accents to neck and base, creating elegant contrast with the gilt surface Tripartite bases with paw feet and bold rococo-style mounts Modern electrical fittings, sensitively converted for use as table lamps Dimensions Height (excluding harp): 63 cm / 25 in Width: 26 cm / 10 in Depth: 20 cm / 8 in Condition Very good condition commensurate with age. Some light wear to the gilding in places. Professionally rewired and ready for use. Shades not included. A striking and substantial pair, ideal for adding classical opulence to an interior.
