Description

Mid-20th Century Spanish Talavera Pottery Vase A fine hand-painted Talavera pottery vase, produced in Spain by the Mave workshop, signed to the base with "Talavera Mave S.R.". This piece likely dates from the mid to late 20th century, circa 1960s–1970s. The vase is of a classic tapered cylindrical form, featuring a wide flared neck with a hand-painted floral motif, decorative banding in traditional cobalt blue and yellow, and scrolling acanthus designs around the collar. The body is richly decorated with a charming scene of a bird in a vibrant natural landscape, with foliage rendered in deep greens and bright blues, all set against a soft cream ground with subtle swirling cloud motifs. Dimensions: Height: 31 cm Width: 16 cm Condition: Offered in good overall condition. There is a small chip to the glaze on the base, as pictured. No cracks or repairs. A few small glaze speckles and minor irregularities are present, consistent with handmade production. This is a delightful example of Spanish craftsmanship, perfect for collectors of European ceramics or as a decorative statement piece in the home.
