Georgian Engraving – The Mote near Maidstone, 1829 A small early 19th century engraved view of The Mote near Maidstone, the seat of Lord Romney, Lord Lieutenant of the County of Kent. Published: 1829 by Geo. Virtue, 26 Ivy Lane, London Drawn by: Geo. Shepherd Engraved by: Garner Medium: Hand-tinted engraving on paper, set behind glass Frame: Later ebonised card mount with early hanging rings Visible image size: approx. 19 x 14 cm Condition: Some discolouration and foxing to the paper. A slight ripple and stain visible behind the glass, but the engraving remains attractive and clear. Frame with age-related wear, but displays well. A finely executed and historically interesting Georgian engraving depicting a prominent Kent estate with pastoral detail including sheep, carriage, and waterfowl.
