Bohemian Art Nouveau Portrait Vase, in the Manner of Amphora, c.1900 A decorative Bohemian Art Nouveau vase, circa 1900, in the manner of Amphora (Riessner, Stellmacher & Kessel), Turn-Teplitz. Modelled in relief with a classical female portrait surrounded by stylised floral motifs in the Jugendstil style. Decorated in tones of olive, gold, and deep brown, with highlights of iridescence and a crackled glaze. The amphora-form body features twin angular handles and a slender flared neck. Unmarked to the base. A well-executed and striking example of continental Art Nouveau ceramic design, reminiscent of Amphora’s portrait series. Dimensions: 11.5 cm wide x 11.5 cm deep x 22 cm high Condition: In good condition. No chips, cracks or repairs. Light wear to the gilding and some natural age-related craquelure to the glaze.
