Description

Large Late 19th Century Sèvres-Style Bleu Céleste Porcelain Vase A decorative late 19th-century porcelain vase in the Sèvres style, circa 1880–1900. Of baluster form with pedestal foot, finely hand-painted with a central portrait of a lady in 18th-century courtly dress, and panels depicting romantic pastoral scenes and floral bouquets. The vase is finished in a vibrant bleu céleste ground with gilt detailing throughout. The reverse bears a pseudo-Sèvres mark in underglaze blue, typical of revival pieces produced in France or Dresden during the latter part of the 19th century. Condition: Good overall decorative condition with expected wear to gilding. The base has been subject to old restoration with filler applied, as shown in the photographs.
