Victorian Silver Card Case / Aide Mémoire – Joseph Gloster, Birmingham 1898 A finely engraved late Victorian sterling silver aide mémoire or card case, made by Joseph Gloster and hallmarked for Birmingham, 1898. The case is decorated front and back with an ornate foliate pattern, with a presentation inscription to the front reading "Nov 1st 1906 from H.C.P." Hallmarked to both sides; the front mark is partially rubbed but legible. The piece retains its original interior of stitched leather compartments, showing signs of age and use including wear, loose fitting, and period ink notations. The clasp and hinge are secure. Attached chain and finger ring remain present and functional. Hallmarks: Joseph Gloster, Birmingham, 1898 Weight: 95.8g Dimensions: 9.5 x 7 x 1 cm Condition: Dinks and surface marks to the silver; wear to the interior as shown. A decorative and period-authentic example of a late 19th-century lady’s aide mémoire or chatelaine accessory.
