Description

Pair of French Ceramic Moonflask Vases c.1910 A decorative pair of early 20th-century French ceramic moonflask vases, dating to circa 1910. Each vase is of flattened circular form with a slender neck, hand-painted in a vibrant palette of turquoise, cobalt blue, yellow, red and green. The front features a central urn with stylised floral sprays, framed by garlands and dot motifs. The reverse is decorated with large floral medallions. The raised black outlines and bold design are typical of cloisonné-style decoration popular in France at the time, in the manner of Longwy, though these examples are unmarked. In good condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. Fine surface craquelure throughout, consistent with age. Each vase measures: 27.5 cm high x 22 cm wide x 11 cm deep
