Delftware Chinoiserie Plate, c.1760 A mid-18th century Delftware plate painted in blue with a lively Chinoiserie scene. The central design shows a robed Oriental figure holding a flag, standing beside a jardinière of flowering plants upon a table, surrounded by stylised floral sprays and pagoda-like buildings. The rim is decorated with further foliate motifs and architectural elements, painted in free brushwork. The reverse has scattered blue brushstrokes, typical of Delftware of the period. The tin glaze shows fritting, small glaze losses, and minor rim chips, all consistent with age and characteristic of 18th century Delft plates. Diameter: 25.5 cm (10 inches)
