Description
Antique Chinese Cloisonné Bronze Tripod Censer, c.1890
A fine Chinese cloisonné bronze censer from the late Qing Dynasty, circa 1890. Of tripod form, the rounded body is decorated with a continuous band of cloisonné enamel in archaistic scroll motifs, worked in turquoise, cobalt blue, green, and yellow. The censer stands on three tapered legs and has lion-mask handles, one retaining its original suspension ring.
The original domed cover is pierced to allow incense smoke to escape, though now lacking its finial. The bronze surface has developed an attractive patina with areas of natural oxidation. Wear and minor enamel losses are present, consistent with age and genuine use.
Dimensions:
Height: 16.5 cm
Width: 16 cm
Depth: 14 cm
Condition:
Good antique condition with age-appropriate surface wear, patination, and minor enamel losses. One handle ring missing; cover lacking finial. Please refer to photographs.
