Description

Cased Set of 6 Sterling Silver & Stainless Steel Dessert Knives — Sheffield, 1931 A fine set of six dessert knives presented in their original fitted case, each featuring hallmarked sterling silver handles and stainless steel blades. Length: 18 cm Weight: 26.0 g (each) Maker: EV (Edward Viner) Assay Office: Sheffield Date Letter: ‘O’ for 1931 Blades Inscribed: “By Appointment to the Late King George V” “Viners Ltd, Sheffield” “Stainless De-Luxe” “Made in England” The handles bear full English hallmarks and are crafted in a subtly contoured and fluted Art Deco style, typical of the early 1930s. The stainless steel blades remain in excellent condition, with crisp maker’s marks and no signs of wear. The set is housed in its original black leatherette presentation case, silk- and velvet-lined, with a “Sterling Silver” label inside. Condition: Very good original condition with only minor age-related wear to the case. The silver has developed a soft patina, and the blades are clean and bright. A charming and practical set, ideal for collectors of vintage silver or for adding a touch of elegance to the dessert course.
