Easy ways to make extra money

Many people’s purse strings are pulled quite tight at the minute, what with ongoing financial concerns and job insecurity resulting from the global pandemic. Most of us would welcome a little bit of extra cash to not only help us get through our day-to-day lives and responsibilities, but also to allow us a little breathing room to do fun things with family and friends.

But when your outgoings are increasing and your income is flat-lining, what can you do to boost your finances? Your first thought might be to rein your spending in, to downsize your home, or swap your car for a cheaper alternative. There’s no need to anything quite so drastic, however, as there are a number of simple ways you can increase your income without having to sacrifice anything – you just need patience, canny thinking, and an initial idea.

Make some space

Most of us fill our homes with endless clutter that is of no use to us anymore; it’s simply there, taking up space, for sentimental reasons, laziness, or because you’re so accustomed to its presence that you barely notice it. Whatever the reason, though, a little time spent sifting through all the bits and bobs you have at home is bound to produce things you can sell to make space.

In most cases, however, the main issue with this is that, in order to make money, you’ve got to spend some – whether that’s listing fees on popular auction or selling sites, travel costs, or delivery costs. So, however you look at it, you’re not making as much profit as you could be making.

Utilising an online auction platform offers you a no-cost method of selling items that you want to clear out. If you register in one of our collective auctions, there are no selling premiums or fees to worry about, and so whatever you earn from our sales is your own money. Not only that, but delivery fees are added on to the cost of items, meaning that you don’t need concern yourself with forking out for expensive delivery costs.

Monetise your hobby

There are so many different hobbies out there for people to enjoy – whether they’re arty, sporty, social, or nerdy – and oftentimes, people end up filling their evenings and free time with more than one endeavour.

But have you ever thought about how you could earn some money whilst having fun? If you’re into something crafty or arty, such as jewellery-making, crocheting, painting, or upcycling, there are lots of different channels through which to sell your work, including auction sites. You could even take commissions and spend your evenings doing something you love and earning money from it.

If you’re into collecting items – such as niche games consoles, trading cards, or models – you can use online auctions to earn some serious cash from your collections. Avid Warhammer fans for example can dedicate time to painting different model sets and then sell them on to other fans willing to pay money for pre-painted pieces.

How can we help you?

Every week, we hold auctions featuring pallets of customer returns and liquidated stock that you can bid on. You can then separate these items and sell them on for a profit, either via an individual or collective auction. Each item within the pallets is listed for your information, making it easier for you to plan and prep their resale. You won’t know what condition the goods are in until you receive them but our regular buyers love the excitement of not knowing until they unpack their delivery!

However, you choose to earn yourself some extra cash, you can be safe in the knowledge that there are plenty of simple, easy ways to do this without having to give anything up that you love! And here at William George, there’s nothing we enjoy more than ensuring we do whatever we can to help you out when it comes to selling your items with us.
