Everything you need to know to become a reseller

The news is full of doom and gloom predictions about the impending huge rises in household bills, so you might be tightening your belt and thinking of ways to make extra cash.

If that’s the case, you’re in the right place, as being a reseller offers a great opportunity to make money and we have the perfect platform on which to source the perfect stock to get you started with your new venture.

Read on to find out all you need to know!

What is a reseller?

As the name suggests, a reseller is someone who buys goods with the aim of reselling them for more money than they purchased them for. You have the freedom to choose how much of your time you want to put into this. We have many returning customers who are resellers. For some it’s a full-time commitment, for others, they dip in and out when they have time. It’s definitely a great option if you’re looking for an additional income stream as it doesn’t have to consume all of your time. Of course, the more time you spend on it and the more stock you buy, the more money-making potential there is.

What to buy

Take a look at what’s for sale on our website. What do you think would prove popular for reselling? Do you have knowledge about a certain product category that would help you, or perhaps you have skills that would lend themselves to fixing up items that might not be 100% mint condition?

An ideal place for you to look are auctions of customer returns. You’ll find bi-weekly auctions of pallets of raw returns which are unchecked items, so can be brand new, used or broken. You’ll know what products are included in what you’re bidding for, just not their condition until you go through the pallet. These goods are sourced from leading UK retailers and often include sought after brand names which will clearly appeal when you get to reselling them.

How to buy

You’ve decided what it is you’d like to go for so what now? First of all, if you haven’t done so already you need to register to bid on our site. You can then place your starting bid. If you get outbid, you’ll receive an e-mail telling you that so you can increase your bid if you wish to. It’s a good idea to set a budget in your mind before you start the bidding process to lessen the likelihood of you getting carried away and spending more than you’d like to. Getting carried away is less likely with timed auctions though as there isn’t a crazy frenzy last minute. In fact, if a bid comes in with the final 10 minutes of the auction run time, the timer resets to a full 10 minutes to let you bid again.

Once you’ve won, you pay and arrange delivery of your purchase. It’s really as simple as that!

Check your stock

Now comes the exciting part of opening up what you’ve purchased and finding out what condition the items are in. If goods are box fresh, brilliant, you don’t need to do anything with them, but some things may need some attention from you before you can sell them on. It’s a gamble of course but one that hopefully pays off for you.

Sell!

You’ll be familiar with our website when you get to this stage so if you decide this is where you’re going to sell your products, you’ll find the process super simple. The key to nailing a good listing is to take lots of quality photographs – we don’t limit the number you can display – and writing a detailed, honest listing. If there are defects, be sure to show these clearly and display them so bidders know exactly what it is they are going to end up with. You can decide to sell without a reserve if you wish, which of course is popular with potential customers, but you can set a reserve price if you feel more comfortable.

It’s free to list with us and we don’t charge seller commission either so the money you make here is your money.

Reach a huge audience

If you’re prepared to invest a small amount of money in your auction, you could take out a marketing package. Starting at just £250 our expert team with allocate targeted activity to get your goods in front of a lot of very keen eyes. This would be in the form of utilising paid social campaigns, banners or e-mails with our partners and other promotional avenues depending on what is most suited to what you’re selling. You can leave it to us to sort this out for you.

That, in a nutshell, is that.
